Hommage to the eternal city

Di Italia, seringkali ia disebut La Bella Roma.

And Italy remains the last bastion of the old world, where a piece of art and culture remains visible in many angles in the pasta land.

Luckily enough, me mates, their owning vehicles and us non-italian students no, took us the a "borgo medioevale", a medieval bourg. Perfect location too: only fourty five kilometres from the capital Rome, and petite enough to be explored on a day trip.

Too bad the restaurants, too overcrowded and understaffed, remains a delusion to us who had to wait two hours. Hence, ordering at two pm meaning we got to munch at four in the (quasi) early evening. We're almost ready to order for dinnner.

No, the hispanic chef lady was nice enough to cajole us, to our content, with a couple of extra plates on the house. As well as dolci (desserts) on the same terms, at our choice.

The old centre (centro) appears splendidly preserved, enlivened by street musicians playing waltz tunes attempting to lure Romans to part coins into the guitar case.

Galleria Borghese, Roma

Roma, kota antik yang -sangat mungkin sekali- menyimpan paling banyak harga karun dan karya seni sedunia.

Akhirnya, setelah lebih dari setengah tahun menunda rencana grand mengunjungi salah satu galeri paling ternama (dan terbaik?) sedunia, dengan kehadiran teman dari Perancis yang kebetulan tengah berlibur di Roma, ia mengajak, dan pucuk dicinta ulam tiba.

Galeria Borghese, gagah berdiri sejak awal abad ke tujuh belas, residensi keluarga sang Paus borghese, sulit dideskripsikan keindahakannya.

Maka dalam tempo dua jam, saya telah menyaksikan salah satu afresco terbesar, terindah, dengan warna-warna nyata hidup sangat harmonius melukiskan kisah dan mitos Yunani.


Belum lagi patung-patung (statues) Bernini : Apollo dan Daphne, David membetet Goliath.

Afresko Nymphe yang jatuh cinta sebelah tangan kepada Aphrodite.


Sedikitnya empat lukisan Caravaggio —mamma mia, Caravaggio adalah seorang master "kontras" antara cahaya, gelap, dan terang ia seorang genius!

Sedikitnya sebuah lukisan Raffael.

Lukisan Tiziano.

Lukisan Botticelli.

Lukisan Perugino.

Dua hari kemudian pun, masih ... remaining gobsmacked!
